Boulder County Brews Cruise

Description: Join us on Wednesday, September 23rd for Round 4 of the insanely popular Boulder County Brews Cruise, and kick off the GABF in Denver a day early.

Both buses hit:
Boulder Beer
Left Hand Brewing
Oskar Blues Longmont and Lyons
Avery Brewing
and then drop you back off in Denver.

Your ticket includes the ride, breakfast, lunch @ Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids & Solids, commemorative T-shirt and tasting glass and 15% discounted merchandise at each stop.

Bus #1 is 8AM - 4PM
Bus #2 is 9:45AM - 5:45PM
Cost is $55.00

A few notes: (1) NO REFUNDS, EXCHANGES, T-SHIRT SWAPS OR BUS HOPPING - SORRY! (2) You will not receive tickets via mail. However, you will receive email notification that you are on the bus! Simply print it out and bring that with you on the day of the tour. (3) You must be 21+ to participate in the BCBC.

Skull N' Bones Release Party

Description: Taste 5 years of beer love and patience when Bristol Brewing releases Skull N' Bones Grand Cru, their Belgium Sour Ale. It's taken the Bristol brewers five years to bring this tasty brew to its current, slightly sour and oh so refreshing perfection. The tapping party starts at 5pm.

GABF Events at Falling Rock

Description: The Falling Rock is Denver's unofficial beer headquarters during the GABF. All this week, they will host many events and special tappings of some of the best brews from the most amazing brewers and breweries in the country:

Monday September 21st 5pm
13th Annual GABF Kickoff Tapping Party. Every year we save kegs to tap at this event. We will be tapping 10-12 kegs at 5pm of harder to find specialty beers from breweries from all over, some sent in just for this event. Some of the breweries: Avery, Russian River, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing.

Wednesday September 23rd
4pm Flying Dog 20th Anniversary Beer Tapping
5pm Pyramid Snowcap Unveiling
9pm Artisanal Imports Come try out some of their offerings including a new, limited offering, Koenigshoeven (La Trappe) Isid'or 125th Anniversary Beer
Marty Jones & the Great Unknowns with special Guests the Rolling Boil Blues Band

Thursday September 24th
3pm Boulder Beer Stranahan’s Aged Mojo
10pm Upstairs - Stone Brewing. The Folks over @ Stone sent us a few fun kegs to try out like this year’s Vertical Epic & a couple others.
10pm Downstairs - Shelton Brother’s. Dan Shelton imports some of the most distinctive beers from all over the world as well as running an Export program also. Come & sample some of the beers that Dan is exporting (like Jolly Pumpkin) as well as some of the interesting beers that Shelton Brothers imports. Cost $20
11pm Jewbilation Bar-Mitzvah Schmaltz Brewing is turning 13 so it's time to celebrate. We'll have Jewbilation and oak aged Lenny'y Rye IPA on tap.

Friday September 25th
Noon Sierra Nevada Kill-A-Keg See if we can drain a keg in less than last year’s 15 minutes 4 seconds.
12:30 Sierra Nevada Estate. Not only did Sierra Use Hops grown on their own Property, they grew the Barley as well. Try out this new, very limited edition Wet-Hopped Ale.
1pm Meet Chris Brouwaerts, Founder of Brasserie La Chouffe from Belgium.
2pm Left Hand/Terrapin Brewing Depth Charge Espresso Milk Stout Collaborative Brew on Cask
10 pm Downstairs All About Beer, Dogfish Head & Others “Up Your Reinheitsgebot – an Evening of Impure & Illicit Beers” Taste Exotic beers from Dogfish Head, Avery Allagash & New Belgium that definitely plead the 5th on the German Purity Law of 1517.

Saturday September 26th
4pm Boulevard Brewing Smokestack Beers on tap. Try out some of Boulevard’s Specialty Offerings.
10pm New Belgium Brewing Rarities with Special Guests Elysian Brewing Company. Come try out some of New Belgium’s Harder-to-Find Beers on Tap. We’ll have Love, La Folie, Transatlantic Kriek, La Fleur Misseur & Le Terroir. Also in the House will be Beers from Elysian Brewing

GABF at Avery Tap Room

We have extended hours for the entire week. Open 10 AM - 8PM Monday 9/21 through Thursday 9/24. 10 AM - 10PM Friday 9/25 and Saturday 9/26. 10AM - 7PM on Sunday 9/27.

Description: OKTOBERFEST DENVER ANNOUNCES FINAL “FEST” IN 2009

A recent change to the Oktoberfest Denver plans for 2009 include, “Danke schön!,” a German thank you to attendees, volunteers and sponsors over the last 40 years, as the festival organizer announces that 2009 will mark the final Oktoberfest celebration. The 40th anniversary of Oktoberfest will be the end of Larimer Associates’ production of the annual festival and will serve as a thank you to all that have attended over the years. Please join us in hoisting a stein and toasting its great legacy initiated 40 years ago. All 2009 events and programming will proceed as planned.

2009 Festival Hours:
Fridays, September 18 & 25: 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Saturdays, September 19 & 26: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.

3rd Annual KROC Homebrew Competition

Description: The Keg Ran Out Club of Broomfield, Colorado invites you to enter our Great American Beer Challenge homebrew competition to be held in conjunction with the 15th Annual KROC World Brewers Forum. This is the event to attend after the Thursday night session of the Great American Beer Festival. This year's competition judging will be held at CB&Potts in Broomfield on September 12th, and the awards presented at the World Brewers Forum on September 24th at the Marriott City Center, Denver, CO.

Categories
All "American Style" BJCP categories will be grouped into flights based on number of entries, and medals will be awarded for the top three positions in each flight. Only entries in the categories and subcategories below will be accepted.
1 A, B, C (Lite, Standard and Premium American Light Lager)
2 C (Classic American Pilsner)
4 A (Dark American Lager)
6 A, B, D (Cream Ale, Blonde Ale, American Wheat or Rye)
7 B (California Common)
10 A, B, C (American Pale, Amber and Brown Ale)
12 B (Robust Porter)
13 E (American Stout)
14 B, C (American IPA, Imperial IPA)
19 C (American Barleywine)

Dry Dock Oktoberfest Tapping

Description: We've made a big batch of Oktoberfest and we're planning a tapping party for Saturday, Sep 12th at 12:00! We're still working on the details, but we've ordered big 1 liter German mugs for the beer and we're working on other fun for the day. It should be a blast.
